Essie - Summer 2012 Collection

Good evening ladies!

Although Wednesday isn’t a particular day to be screaming out jumping for joy, it is a day to be enjoying all things girly that surround us. Like for instance, nail polish! J

As we all know, summer is a time of recess for the majority. A time to kick back and relax, take an exotic vacation to a tropical island, hit the beach with family and friends and enjoy the warm, sunny weather. Essie’s Summer 2012 collection makes you want to do just that. Enjoy the notion of “no shoes, no shirt, no problem!”

Cascade Cool –

This lavender-y color contains a pretty combination of purples and pinks causing it to have a close proximity to “Splash of Grenadine”. It’s cool complexion goes perfect with any of your colorful summer bathing suits. No doubt that this pretty baby was a big hit at the beach this summer!

Fear or Desire –

Pretty. Little. Orange. This color reminds me of a perfect, cold frosty popsicle ready to quech anyone’s thirst during the heat-filled season. The thirst for vibrant colors, of course! This ladies,  can also be known as a summer necessity! Definitely need to purchase it.

Off The Shoulder –

This watermelon pink will brighten anyone’s day as soon as they catch a glimpse of your pretty little polished fingers. I personally love colors that have a vibrant hue for summer. It’s such a fun time to go color crazy and mix different shades. This is a summer definite girls!

All Tied Up –

A pretty rust-colored pink filled with a golden shimmer. This is not a shade that I usually tend to go for but calling it an ugly color would not be fair since it is not.

Mojito Madness –

Viva summer! Many of you may think that “oh, this is just another green”, but… you are so WRONG! Yes, granted it’s similar to “Pretty Edgy” also by Essie, but it has a completely different saturation. And as an honor to its name, I have to stay true to my Cuban heritage! Hehe!

Bikini So Teeny –

Love, love, LOVE this powder blue! Bikini So Teeny can seriously be one of my all time favorite blues by far! With its teeny-tiny bit of silver shimmer (all of which is barely visible) it stands out from all the rest. I recommend this color to the highest degree!

OPI - The Amazing Spider-Man Collection

Good morning ladies! I hope that you are all having an amazing start to your week and that you’ve had a lovely weekend!

Here we are again with another collection, however… This is not just any collection. This is OPI’s Amazing Spider-Man Collection!! Now, for anyone who finds superheroes, well, just, irresistible, imagine uniting two wonderful, beautiful things into one! It’s pure genius! This by far has been one of my favorite collections of 2012 and I’m so happy to be sharing it right now with all of you readers J

Our very own edition of The Daily Bugle… You like? Hehe!

Call Me Gwen-ever –

This color has me going “goo-goo gaga” over it since I saw it. As a lover of vibrant colors, I usually tend to lean more towards colors of warm chroma, so the question of whether this color was going to make it to my stash or not…. Well, that was a no brainer. Not like typical oranges you see in polishes, this has kind of like a harvest pumpkin color to it. Pretty to wear in the summer but also, during the fall season as well! How fabulous is that?!? I recommend this color to anyone, definitely an investment!

My Boyfriend Scales Walls –

Now this color by any other name is “just another white”. However, when you polish your nails with it, it has a very light, subtle bluish whitish hue to it. This color was one that took me by surprise because I was really not expecting such a pretty color when I actually put it on. I thought it was going to look something similar to “Alpine Snow”. But boy was I wrong! Very, very happy with this color!

Your Web Or Mine –

Now while the name of this color is in and of itself absolutely brilliant… the color they chose for the name… not so much, unfortunately. Being that I am not a lover of the pearled polishes, this color I have to say isn’t one my preferred ones. Now of course, every single color in a collection cannot be to my liking, that’s why there exists a multitude of variations of colors.

Just Spotted The Lizard –

Beauty in the form of polish! This color is absolutely spectacular! I cannot get enough of it! What a pleasant surprise this was when I saw this color. I grabbed it right away. This holographic-foiled polish is just stunning. No doubt that it’s perfect for a night out on the town. I’m sure that no one can resist this beautiful color!

Number One Nemesis –

This color by any other definition can be considered a shimmer polish but, when you put it on, you fall in love with it and want to give it so much more description than just plain ole “shimmer”. Utterly and completely breathtaking. Paints pretty evenly but then again when it comes to matters of sparkle, when are two coats ever enough? Hehe.

Into The Night –

A gorgeous blue color that can easily compare to the very famous “Russian Navy” but with a more blue tone? Come on! Into The Night or Into The Day, this color is perfect at all times of the day, week, month, and year! Ladies, you must get this color! Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful… ‘Nuff said J

OPI - NYC Ballet Collection

Hello darlings!
I hope you’re all having a lovely day!

As you’ve seen for the last couple of days, we’ve been playing catch up with the recent collections that have come out. As soon as I found out that OPI was releasing a New York City Ballet Collection, I was beyond thrilled. Having been a ballerina for years, this collection, I believed, was going to be one that exemplified a major part of my life. However, with much disappointment, it was not. While the shades of the colors they used were all beautiful and delicate, the consistency of the polish was transparent. In order to actually achieve some color, it required three or more coats of polish. Not very happy with it.

You Callin’ Me A Lyre
This pale ballerina pink is a real beauty in the bottle. Come to think of it, this is one of the best ones actually. With two coats, it gives the nail a hint of color providing a little more than just shine. (pictured below with four coats of nail polish)

Barre My Soul
Another pretty color in the bottle. This one was a big disappointment. As previously stated in Essie’s Wedding Collection post, I find it very difficult to find a pretty ivory cream-puff color. I got my hopes up when I saw this one, but not everything is the way it seems. Wahh! (pictured below with four coats of nail polish)

Don’t Touch My Tutu!
This color has the most adorable name and it’s one that could usually be worn year round if you want some sort of color that isn’t just your natural nail color. Transparent as chiffon, this one, as it turns out, seems to be a cute shade of white. (pictured below with four coats of nail polish)

Care To Danse?
As an ample purple lover, this color was screaming out my name. Like all the other colors in this collection, this one was by far the biggest disillusionment. I was looking forward to getting my hands on this polish since I saw it announced. I still ended up getting it just because, if one day… Hehe! (pictured below with four coats of nail polish)

My Pointe Exactly
This sheer light feather gray is a soft as Barre My Soul. Requires several coats on nails to show some tint of color and does not paint very evenly either. (pictured below with four coats of nail polish)

Pirouette My Whistle
Out of all the colors of the collection, this is by far my favorite. Has some chunky hexagonal shaped glitter and some fine glitter. While the base of the polish is clear, you can basically use this with any color underneath to have a little bling on your nails!

Essie - 2012 Wedding Collection

Here we are again, writing about one of my favorite collections that Essie comes out with annually. The 2012 Wedding Collection was, for lack of better words, a complete hit! Names, shades and orginality in colors are all wedding bell ringing worthy!

Love & Acceptance

This lovely lavender purple shade is the such an elegant, yet girly color. Perfect for any spring occasion, this came to be a very popular choice among nail polish lovers. Unlike any other that Essie has come out with, Love & Acceptance is a sure favorite for me. (Pictured below with two coats)

Who's The Boss -

This powder blue is second to none in this collection. A combination of Essie's Borrowed and Blue with Essie's Mint Candy Apple, this color screams out individuality (hence the name). Keeping it a fun blue but without a doubt, wedding worthy! (Pictured below with two coats)

Instant Hot

I know that I usually try to behave myself with my obsessive nail polish buying antics but.... I just can't keep myself away from this color! It's like none other! Usually it's such a huge mission to find a pretty creamy ivory color that is not transparent. Well, we've hit the jackpot! The perfect blend of everything I've been looking for and a hint of innocence (although contrary to it's name). Hehe! (Pictured below with two coats)

Like To Be Bad

This last and final shade of the collection is a really pretty pale pink shade. It's soft tones and little gold-ish glimmer separates it from all the rest. I honestly haven't come across any other color that can compare to this one. Love is in full bloom with this color as well as a "pinch" of naughty with it's name. (Pictured below with two coats)

OPI Spring 2012 Holland Collection

Hello darlings!

Our apologies for being lost for a while but the good news is, we’re back!

Well, as usual, every time that OPI has a new collection come out, it’s always exciting. You’re standing in front of the display and find yourself completely overwhelmed by the new display and array of colors. This spring 2012’s collection is in honor of the beautiful and enchanting country of Holland. And, just like the country, the colors are just as beautiful.

A Roll In The Hague -
Now this particular color I’m very fond of. I tend to love different shades of oranges and I think that this color is simply spectacular. Has a really nice formula. Not transparent at all and paints evenly. Two coats and you’re good to go!

Did You Ear About Van Gogh? -
I’m usually precautious when it comes to shades like these because well, you never know what you’re going to be stuck with but, this was a total surprise. Not clear, not streaky. This color is a total hit! It’s just one of those that you can go to when you have a last minute emergency and don’t really know what color to paint your nails. Love it!

Dutch Ya Just Love OPI? -
Anyone that knows me, knows that I absolutely love the color purple! While pink is still my favorite, purple is a close second. This color is absolutely stunning. Compliments all skin tones and aside from that, it has a very minimal gold-ish shimmer to it. No doubt that I’ll be keeping one of these for my collection.

Gouda Gouda Two Shoes -
As for this color, I can’t say that it’s one of my favorites. I’m not one to be a fan of the milk chocolate-y colors for nails. I don’t think that it’s ugly but, it’s just not for me. I do love the name though, haha!

I Don’t Give A Rotterdam -
Now as much as I love the color blue, this color is not one of my favorites. The silver-y shimmer that’s in the polish doesn’t have me crazy about it either. This slate blue, while being original, and having a banging name, has me disappointed.

I Have A Herring Problem -
Another slate/steel blue, but with a darker shade than “I Don’t Give A Rotterdam”. Same sentiments go out to this color as the former. Can’t say I love it but, every one is entitled to his or her opinion and taste.

Kiss Me On My Tulips -
One of my favorite flowers ever! This color is true genius! Love, love, love! Such a fun and flirty and true to its name. The hot pink hue it has is a sure attention grabber and perfect for the spring and summer season. One color, two seasons? Genius! Definitely recommend to all who would like to purchase. One of my favorites by far!

Pedal Faster Suzi -
This light pink color is a sure hit. Very delicate and not just a plain Jane color, it has a bit of a silver shimmer to it but much less than “I Don’t Give A Rotterdam” or “I Have A Herring Problem”. Paints on evenly and heck, it’s pretty! Keeping one of these for sure!

Red Lights Ahead… Where? -
Living in Miami, this type of color is always in style. Spring, summer, fall or winter. Has a similarity to My Chihuahua Bites, but more vibrant in a way. This coral red color is sure to turn a few heads for the upcoming seasons. Don’t hesitate to purchase this color. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

Thanks A Windmillion -
This sea green has a big similarity to Mermaids Tears from the Pirates of the Caribbean collection. Although it’s a pretty shade, it has a paleness to it. I don’t think it should be a “go to” spring and summer color but nonetheless, it is a pretty shade. Luckily this one like all the others I’ve mentioned in this collection, paints evenly and isn’t translucent.

Vampsterdam -
Hellooooo sexy! This color, let me tell you, this color is a combination of seduction and elegance. With its minimal pearly effect, this color screams out “Vamp!” Although this color came out now for spring, in my opinion it is more of a fall and winter color. Keeping true to its name, this color is a definite show stopper.

Wooden Shoe Like To Know -
This dark brown color is absolutely to die for. With its golden shimmer and fall-like personality, this color is making its way to my stash as we speak. In my opinion it’s not always easy to find a pretty dark brown color and here, ladies, is a definite winner!

Sure Shot - Essie 2012 Resort Collection

This color is a cranberry-like hue with a pearly effect. It's kind of a mix between Essie's Jamaica Me Crazy and Miami Nice. Super even when painting on your nails.

She's Picture Perfect - Essie 2012 Resort Collection

Now, I know what you're thinking... Here goes another lilac color that's just like every other one. Well, I have to disagree. This color has the lilac undertone and a minimal pearly effect to it as well. I'm not one to be in favor of these colors with this effect but, I have to admit, I LOVE this color! It's just like it's surname, Perfect!

Pink-A-Boo - Essie 2012 Resort Collection

A light pink color that while it's not the least bit translucent, it has the most minimal size and amount of glitter that somewhat resembles that of pixie dust. Just remember to flash those babies when you're taking all your adorable pictures!

No More Film - Essie 2012 Resort Collection

Now this is a color that I will love FOREVER! You could wear it with one coat or two, however you'd like. Mixture of blue and purple, this shade is unlike any other. Looking for a spunky and flirty color to rock this season? Look no further girls, you've found a winner!

Essie Spring 2012

I have to start off by saying that I think this is one of my favorite collections that Essie has come out with. It has three very fresh, clean colors which help one transition out of the darker tones that winter usually popularizes as well as three bold, vibrant colors that are signature for spring. And to start the New Year off right, they all have a financial theme to them.

Starting off with its popular color for which the collection was given named after, “Navigate Her” is a gorgeous green that will most definitely attract some ching-ching.

Next we have “A Crewed Interest” which is a creamy peach color that is perfect for any Spring occasion.

After there’s “To Buy Or Not To Buy” which is a no brainer when you’re dealing with this lilac color with its teensy-weensy sparkles.

For some girly sizzle there’s “Tour de Finance” which would most certainly be the perfect reason for some savy, New Year spending.

“Olé Caliente” is a jaw-dropping zesty red that will most likely be sure to turn a few heads.

And last but not least, who can resist “Orange It’s Obvious” with its fun, vibrant hue. Perfect for any lady who’s strong in both heart and mind.

It’s safe to say that I was one very happy girl once I was able to get my hands on this collection. Don’t hesitate to buy yours today. I promise you won’t regret it one bit!
