OPI - NYC Ballet Collection

Hello darlings!
I hope you’re all having a lovely day!

As you’ve seen for the last couple of days, we’ve been playing catch up with the recent collections that have come out. As soon as I found out that OPI was releasing a New York City Ballet Collection, I was beyond thrilled. Having been a ballerina for years, this collection, I believed, was going to be one that exemplified a major part of my life. However, with much disappointment, it was not. While the shades of the colors they used were all beautiful and delicate, the consistency of the polish was transparent. In order to actually achieve some color, it required three or more coats of polish. Not very happy with it.

You Callin’ Me A Lyre
This pale ballerina pink is a real beauty in the bottle. Come to think of it, this is one of the best ones actually. With two coats, it gives the nail a hint of color providing a little more than just shine. (pictured below with four coats of nail polish)

Barre My Soul
Another pretty color in the bottle. This one was a big disappointment. As previously stated in Essie’s Wedding Collection post, I find it very difficult to find a pretty ivory cream-puff color. I got my hopes up when I saw this one, but not everything is the way it seems. Wahh! (pictured below with four coats of nail polish)

Don’t Touch My Tutu!
This color has the most adorable name and it’s one that could usually be worn year round if you want some sort of color that isn’t just your natural nail color. Transparent as chiffon, this one, as it turns out, seems to be a cute shade of white. (pictured below with four coats of nail polish)

Care To Danse?
As an ample purple lover, this color was screaming out my name. Like all the other colors in this collection, this one was by far the biggest disillusionment. I was looking forward to getting my hands on this polish since I saw it announced. I still ended up getting it just because, if one day… Hehe! (pictured below with four coats of nail polish)

My Pointe Exactly
This sheer light feather gray is a soft as Barre My Soul. Requires several coats on nails to show some tint of color and does not paint very evenly either. (pictured below with four coats of nail polish)

Pirouette My Whistle
Out of all the colors of the collection, this is by far my favorite. Has some chunky hexagonal shaped glitter and some fine glitter. While the base of the polish is clear, you can basically use this with any color underneath to have a little bling on your nails!

Essie - 2012 Wedding Collection

Here we are again, writing about one of my favorite collections that Essie comes out with annually. The 2012 Wedding Collection was, for lack of better words, a complete hit! Names, shades and orginality in colors are all wedding bell ringing worthy!

Love & Acceptance

This lovely lavender purple shade is the such an elegant, yet girly color. Perfect for any spring occasion, this came to be a very popular choice among nail polish lovers. Unlike any other that Essie has come out with, Love & Acceptance is a sure favorite for me. (Pictured below with two coats)

Who's The Boss -

This powder blue is second to none in this collection. A combination of Essie's Borrowed and Blue with Essie's Mint Candy Apple, this color screams out individuality (hence the name). Keeping it a fun blue but without a doubt, wedding worthy! (Pictured below with two coats)

Instant Hot

I know that I usually try to behave myself with my obsessive nail polish buying antics but.... I just can't keep myself away from this color! It's like none other! Usually it's such a huge mission to find a pretty creamy ivory color that is not transparent. Well, we've hit the jackpot! The perfect blend of everything I've been looking for and a hint of innocence (although contrary to it's name). Hehe! (Pictured below with two coats)

Like To Be Bad

This last and final shade of the collection is a really pretty pale pink shade. It's soft tones and little gold-ish glimmer separates it from all the rest. I honestly haven't come across any other color that can compare to this one. Love is in full bloom with this color as well as a "pinch" of naughty with it's name. (Pictured below with two coats)

OPI Spring 2012 Holland Collection

Hello darlings!

Our apologies for being lost for a while but the good news is, we’re back!

Well, as usual, every time that OPI has a new collection come out, it’s always exciting. You’re standing in front of the display and find yourself completely overwhelmed by the new display and array of colors. This spring 2012’s collection is in honor of the beautiful and enchanting country of Holland. And, just like the country, the colors are just as beautiful.

A Roll In The Hague -
Now this particular color I’m very fond of. I tend to love different shades of oranges and I think that this color is simply spectacular. Has a really nice formula. Not transparent at all and paints evenly. Two coats and you’re good to go!

Did You Ear About Van Gogh? -
I’m usually precautious when it comes to shades like these because well, you never know what you’re going to be stuck with but, this was a total surprise. Not clear, not streaky. This color is a total hit! It’s just one of those that you can go to when you have a last minute emergency and don’t really know what color to paint your nails. Love it!

Dutch Ya Just Love OPI? -
Anyone that knows me, knows that I absolutely love the color purple! While pink is still my favorite, purple is a close second. This color is absolutely stunning. Compliments all skin tones and aside from that, it has a very minimal gold-ish shimmer to it. No doubt that I’ll be keeping one of these for my collection.

Gouda Gouda Two Shoes -
As for this color, I can’t say that it’s one of my favorites. I’m not one to be a fan of the milk chocolate-y colors for nails. I don’t think that it’s ugly but, it’s just not for me. I do love the name though, haha!

I Don’t Give A Rotterdam -
Now as much as I love the color blue, this color is not one of my favorites. The silver-y shimmer that’s in the polish doesn’t have me crazy about it either. This slate blue, while being original, and having a banging name, has me disappointed.

I Have A Herring Problem -
Another slate/steel blue, but with a darker shade than “I Don’t Give A Rotterdam”. Same sentiments go out to this color as the former. Can’t say I love it but, every one is entitled to his or her opinion and taste.

Kiss Me On My Tulips -
One of my favorite flowers ever! This color is true genius! Love, love, love! Such a fun and flirty and true to its name. The hot pink hue it has is a sure attention grabber and perfect for the spring and summer season. One color, two seasons? Genius! Definitely recommend to all who would like to purchase. One of my favorites by far!

Pedal Faster Suzi -
This light pink color is a sure hit. Very delicate and not just a plain Jane color, it has a bit of a silver shimmer to it but much less than “I Don’t Give A Rotterdam” or “I Have A Herring Problem”. Paints on evenly and heck, it’s pretty! Keeping one of these for sure!

Red Lights Ahead… Where? -
Living in Miami, this type of color is always in style. Spring, summer, fall or winter. Has a similarity to My Chihuahua Bites, but more vibrant in a way. This coral red color is sure to turn a few heads for the upcoming seasons. Don’t hesitate to purchase this color. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

Thanks A Windmillion -
This sea green has a big similarity to Mermaids Tears from the Pirates of the Caribbean collection. Although it’s a pretty shade, it has a paleness to it. I don’t think it should be a “go to” spring and summer color but nonetheless, it is a pretty shade. Luckily this one like all the others I’ve mentioned in this collection, paints evenly and isn’t translucent.

Vampsterdam -
Hellooooo sexy! This color, let me tell you, this color is a combination of seduction and elegance. With its minimal pearly effect, this color screams out “Vamp!” Although this color came out now for spring, in my opinion it is more of a fall and winter color. Keeping true to its name, this color is a definite show stopper.

Wooden Shoe Like To Know -
This dark brown color is absolutely to die for. With its golden shimmer and fall-like personality, this color is making its way to my stash as we speak. In my opinion it’s not always easy to find a pretty dark brown color and here, ladies, is a definite winner!
